This lovely 8-bit game was created by Exploding Rabbit in 2010, unlike the original Super Mario Bros, this fan-made version has other characters in it, a list of new characters can be seen right here: Link, Samus Aran, Simon Belmont, Bill Rizer, Mega Man, SOPHIA III, Ryu Hayabusa, Luigi, Bass and of course finally we have Mario. All of these different characters have their own unique superpowers and attack abilities, this makes the game truly addicting and entertaining.
The original map is pretty much the same, with coins, hidden paths, bosses, and objectives as well, which is the same – rescue of Princess Peach. However, there was a couple of interesting additions to the game: difficulty levels, cheats, and new play modes. Two major updates of the game 2.0 and 3.0 added even more characters to the game and new levels as well.
Of course, when talking about classic flash games we can’t avoid mentioning Survivo, the interesting part is that it has a two-player mode as well.
Controls of the game have changed because now you must play it from your keyboard:
- Jump with Z button.
- Run in different directions with arrow buttons.
- Attack with X button.
I must also remind you that old-school tricks still work in Super Mario Crossover, for example killing enemies by jumping on top of them or using turtle shells to knock down enemies.
This is a remarkable game for those who love 8-bit platforms; it also reminds people about their childhood and leaves with nostalgic feelings.
